Sonel infrared cameras for body temperature control

SONEL S.A. offers many thermal imagers. KT-560M and KT-120M models stand out. Thanks to special infrared detectors, they are dedicated to checking body temperature.

The measuring ranges are narrower than in cameras for industrial use. The difference is also in the accuracy. In industrial cameras it is at the level of 1-2°C, sufficient for checking machines, installations or buildings. For body temperature tests, this is too high: if we want to be sure of the correct reading, we need a more accurate measurement. KT-560M and KT-120M provide this precision. In KT-560M the error is 0.4°C, in KT-120M it is 0.5°C.

KT-120M camera is easy to use. It presents an infrared image and allows to take pictures. A temperature alarm can be set, which helps identify a person with a fever. Thermograms are saved on a microSD card. The lithium-ion battery allows for over 8 hours of continuous operation. The device can also be powered directly from the network.

KT-560M camera is an advanced device. It not only allows to detect a fever, but also to accurately analyze photos or videos. It is based on Android, so it is operated like a typical smartphone. It registers infrared and visible image, allowing the identification of tested persons. In addition, mixed picture modes are available. The camera has a built-in report module for performing a thorough thermographic analysis and generate a report. KT-560M saves captured photos and videos on an SD card. In addition, it can send image to various external devices via a mini HDMI, LAN and microUSB interface.

The process of body temperature measurement

  1. Prepare the camera
    1. Set the correct emissivity value.

For human skin it is 0.98. Wrong setting will cause the camera to display the temperature incorrectly.

    1. Set temperature alarm or isotherm.

This will make fever detection easier.

    1. Turn off the laser pointer.

Pointing the laser beam at a person's eye can cause permanent eye damage. SONEL infrared cameras have the laser turned off by default, but it's always a good idea to check it.

2. Point the camera

  1. Point the camera at the face of the examined person.

The most accurate measurement is obtained by measuring the temperature on the face - directly on the skin. A temperature test on a covered body will show lower results - clothing covers the skin and provides thermal insulation.

    1. Avoid sources of interference.

Make sure that the tested person is not standing in front of an air conditioner, a fan or a heater and that there is no sunlight reflection on their face.

    1. Consider adverse factors.

People coming from places where the temperature was significantly low or high should wait until their temperature stabilizes. The same applies to people after physical exertion.

3. Perform the measurement

  1. Measure the temperature of the tested person and check the result. Previously set alarm or isotherm will allow quick assessment of the situation.

4. People with elevated temperature should be directed for further examinations by a professional medical personnel.
