OUR HISTORY

Let's go back to the very beginning, to the 1990s... More than a quarter of a century ago, a group of young, ambitious engineers decides to set up a company producing what is now one of the most recognizable measuring instruments in the world...

The history of our products dates back to 1989. The founders of the company were young electrical engineers. It was thanks to their extraordinary determination, passion and knowledge of the contemporary market needs for specialized measuring instruments that the Zakład Innowacyjno-Wdrożeniowy TIM S.A. (Implementation and Innovation Plant) was founded in Wroclaw. And that’s how it all started...

The year 1990 sees the development of the first digital short-circuit loop impedance meter MZC-1.

As a result of rapid increase in demand for our products and the inability to increase the production volume under the existing conditions, Zakład Innowacyjno-Wdrożeniowy TIM Sp. z o.o. becomes 100% shareholder in the newly founded company, TIM Sp. z o.o., based in Świdnica.

In 1995, the first Polish microprocessor-based insulation resistance meters MIC-1 and MIC-1T as well as the RCD meter are a great success. The increased production area and the extended warehouse allows the product range to be expanded with street lighting sources (using Schneider luminaires).

With its measuring instruments, the company, as a recognized and valued brand in Poland, starts expansion into foreign markets.

In 1997, the instruments for measuring short-circuit loop impedance, MZC-300 and MZC-300 E, are produced and they are among the first instruments of its kind in the world.

The purchase of the SMT surface mounting line in 1997 contributes to the automation of the production process.

In 1998, the company name is changed to SONEL Sp. z o.o. In the same year, the limited liability company is transformed into a joint-stock company and SONEL S.A. is established.

In 1999, the microprocessor-based earth resistance and soil resistivity meter MRU-100 is produced as the first instrument of this type in Poland.

In July 2001, SONEL S.A. obtains the Certificate of Implementation and Application of the Quality Management System according to DIN EN ISO issued by DQS.

SONEL S.A. is still growing rapidly, launching new instruments for electrical measurements (CMP-series clamps, multimeters, voltage testers) as well as environmental measurements (pyrometers, illumination meters).

In June 2008, SONEL S.A. debuts on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

During the past decade, employment in SONEL S.A. increases threefold.

On 1 May 2008, the company starts operating in the new facility built in the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone. Production is carried out under conditions meeting the highest European standards. Automatic assembly is performed using high-end FUJI machines.

To meet the expectations of the customers, the company’s offer is extended with professional thermal imaging cameras – radiometric cameras, which enable the temperature to be read at any point within the image.

In 2011, the first Polish electrical equipment safety meters PAT-800 and PAT-805 are produced.

In 2012, Sonel Production System (SPS), based on the Lean Manufacturing management concept, is implemented.

As a continuation of the assumptions of the long-term foreign development strategy, the Polish-Indian company, SONEL INSTRUMENTS INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, is founded in 2013.   The current Vice President of SONEL S.A., Mr Jan Walulik, is appointed the director of the newly established company.

The year 2014 is the date of foundation of FOXYTECH company (with Holley Metering LTD Hangzhou, China), which is to deal with the introduction of FOXYTECH digital electricity meters on the Polish market.

SONEL S.A. receives an order of PLN 19.9 million from the Luxembourg-based company Lincoln Electric. The agreement is a purchase contract, and its implementation is planned for 2016.

SONEL S.A. is awarded with a Distinction during the 9th edition of the Gepardy Biznesu (Business Cheetahs) competition and then wins the Lower Silesia Economic Certificate, which is one of the most prestigious credibility and business quality awards given to entrepreneurs in the Lower Silesia region.

In September, SONEL S.A. is awarded the Gold Medal of the Bielsko-Biała Trade Fair for the power quality analyzer PQM-711.

2016 is also the beginning of the implementation of SIX SIGMA methodology, aimed at continuous quality improvement based on the statistical analysis of processes.

The Polish Centre for Accreditation grants SONEL S.A. the accreditation no. AP 173, covering the calibration of meters and standards with regard to voltage and current measurements, DC resistance measurements by low-voltage methods, and active and reactive power measurements.

At present, our company is constantly developing its activities in Poland and abroad. In addition to the product range which is recognized by customers all over the world, we are designing and manufacturing more and more advanced measuring instruments for you, using innovative technological methods in accordance with the highest European standards.  We are continually improving our skills and undertaking activities to maintain our leading market position and meet your expectations. We treat the satisfaction which is gained from the reliability of our products very seriously, and therefore, to meet your needs, SONEL S.A. will focus on gradual widening its current product range, as well as the continuing its expansion into foreign markets.
