Ensure the safety of your power tools, machines and welding equipment with Sonel PAT-95 and PAT-96 meters

Employers, facility managers and service company owners are required to ensure the safety of the electrical equipment used by their staff and end users. Regular technical inspections are not just a legal formality – they are a key part of an employer’s safety and prevention strategy. The modern Sonel PAT-95 and PAT-96 safety testers are the perfect answer to these needs.

Testing in compliance with EN 50678, EN 50699, and EN 60974-4 standards

These instruments are designed for mobile service technicians, electricians and maintenance engineers, responsible for assessing the technical condition of power tools, household appliances and three-phase equipment. The Sonel PAT-96 and PAT-95 testers make it possible to verify compliance with standards such as EN 50678 (testing after repair, modification or reconstruction of electrical equipment) and EN 50699 (periodic testing of electrical equipment). The PAT-96 model goes a step further, offering dedicated testing functions for welding equipment in accordance with EN 60974-4, which sets out the electrical safety requirements for arc welding machines.

Comprehensive safety testing – from a kettle to an industrial machine

With the advanced measuring functions of the Sonel PAT-95 and PAT-96, you can perform comprehensive safety assessments of electrical equipment – from everyday kettles and extension leads to power tools and three-phase industrial machines. These meters carry out all the essential safety tests, including: protective conductor resistance (also with high test currents of 10 A and 25 A), insulation resistance (up to 1000 V), various leakage current tests (substitute, differential, and touch current), RCD and PRCD tests and other required checks. The Sonel PAT-96 goes even further, offering measurements of open-circuit welding voltage and leakage currents on both the primary and secondary sides of welding equipment. Both models additionally support functional tests (including measurements of active, reactive and apparent power, current consumption, THD, power factor – cosφ) and IEC lead testing.

Equipment records and custom test scenarios

In day-to-day work, especially when performing repetitive tasks, features that streamline the identification and tracking of tested equipment are invaluable. The meters are compatible with label printers and QR code scanners, enabling quick equipment labelling and instant retrieval of items from the database. The automatic result assignment system saves time and minimises the risk of errors.

The printed thermal labels are resistant to abrasion, moisture, dirt and UV radiation, an essential feature for demanding environments such as construction sites. Each QR code provides direct access to the meter’s test history, ensuring full transparency and easy access to documentation for both the operator and the client.

Another standout feature is the built-in test procedure wizard, which allows you to develop custom procedures on the spot during measurements. This feature adds real flexibility, enabling you to tailor tests to a client’s specific requirements or the type of equipment being inspected, all without pre-programming the device.

Integration with Sonel MeasureEffect™ – intelligent measurement management

The Sonel PAT-95 and PAT-96 meters are fully integrated with the cloud-based Sonel MeasureEffect™ platform, a modern environment for managing measurements, devices and test results. This integration gives users the ability to record data remotely, monitor the progress of tests and generate reports automatically. It also helps reduce or even eliminate traditional paper documentation, speeding up testing, improving consistency and contributing to more sustainable and environmentally responsible practices.

With MeasureEffect™ integration, the entire equipment database is available online, accessible via a web browser or mobile app. The advanced interface allows quick assignment of equipment to specific locations or job sites and makes it easy to track where and when each device was used, who tested it, and what the results were. This level of control translates into better operational organisation, full regulatory compliance and improved user safety.

Versatile applications of the Sonel PAT-95 and PAT-96 testers

The Sonel PAT-95 is a practical choice for self-employed electricians. Its compact, portable design and predefined testing procedures make measurements quick and convenient, even in home or office settings. When connected to a label printer, the meter allows you to immediately print and hand over a complete set of test results to the client right after the measurement.

In companies, the Sonel PAT-95 and PAT-96 meters provide comprehensive support for maintenance departments and health & safety teams. They make it possible to carry out regular and service inspections in full compliance with legal requirements, without the need to outsource testing. As a result, staff can be confident that the equipment they use is safe and meets all applicable standards.
In the power tool and construction equipment rental sector, verifying user safety is not just good practice – it is a legal obligation. The Sonel PAT-95/96 meters enable automatic execution of a complete set of electrical safety tests before each rental – quickly, consistently and in accordance with standards. Operators can test dozens of tools in a single day, eliminating the risk of renting out faulty or unsafe equipment.

When integrated with the MeasureEffect™ platform, the Sonel PAT-95/96 series also performs exceptionally well in industrial plants and manufacturing companies, serving as a tool for final quality control. With advanced testing features and a customisable user interface, each device can be tested quickly and reliably before being packed and shipped to the customer. One of the key advantages is that multiple meters can work in parallel on the same network. Wi-Fi and LAN connectivity ensure all data is sent automatically to a central database, without the need to manually retrieve results from each device. This setup enables centralised management of the quality control process. Engineers or shift supervisors can monitor progress in real time, identify issues, verify the completeness of tests and generate detailed reports for individual production batches. The platform automatically assigns results to a specific device, operator, date and shift, making it much easier to track compliance with standards and minimising the risk of human error.

The modern Sonel PAT-95 and PAT-96 are more than just measuring instruments – they are comprehensive tools that enhance safety, efficiency and technical order in any company using electrical equipment. By combining proven testing methods, an intuitive interface and the MeasureEffect™ platform, you gain complete control over the testing process, whether you are a self-employed electrician, a maintenance manager or a production line operator.
