Measure the insulation resistance to 2 TΩ with the new Sonel MIC-2511 meter

Possibility to measure in EPA zones, the upper voltage measurement limit up to 1500 V, a memorable memory to save and send to a computer close to 10 thousand measurements, 5,6-inch colour touch screen – only some of the characteristics of the MIC-2511, a new meter from Sonel S.A. The product is perfect for instance in residential construction, when checking industrial installations or transmission networks.

Intended use

The insulation resistance meter Sonel MIC-2511 is a convenient successor to a well-known and well-selling Sonel MIC-2510. From its predecessor, there are even better parameters and broader scope of application. Due to the low power consumption of the batteries and the ability to charge them during the measurements, the handrail and the high degree of tightness of the enclosure (IP65 protection level), the meter is gladly used by electricians operating in motion maintenance, testing engines, cables, or in the construction and maintenance of photovoltaic systems. It is also perfect for installers of telecommunications networks and district heating network operators, where it is required to control the alarm system of preinsulated pipes.

A neat form with a rich interior

Sonel MIC-2511 surprises with many features hidden in a neat and handy form. The users of the meter will certainly appreciate a clear graphic display of the LCD display with a diagonal measurement of 5.6 inches and a housing with an IP65 protection level (total dust-tightness, partial waterproofness). All this has been achieved by the manufacturer in a really compact case – the meter dimensions are 234 x 169 x 70 mm, and its weight is just 1.3 kg.

Features

  • Measurement voltage within the range of 10…2500 V: selected from 10 V, 25 V, 100 V, 250 V, 500 V, 1000 V, 2500 V or 10…2500 V selected in steps of 10 V
  • Insulation resistance measurements with a voltage of 10 V of the supervisory loop of fire alarm systems

Sonel MIC-2511 – meter without competition

The meter allows to measure the isolation resistance with a measurement voltage of up to 2500 V. In case of cable tests, it discharges their capacity at the end of the measurement. Together with Sonel PRZ-2, i.e. a set for measuring resistance in protection zones against ESD, it is a comprehensive tool for coordinators involved in the protection of plants against static electricity.

With the instrument you can control home and industrial electrical systems in terms of safety. Measurements can be made very easily by using the Sonel AutoISO-2511 adapter for testing the insulation resistance of 3-, 4- and 5-wire lines.

Sonel MIC-2511 will allow the user to measure the continuity of protective and countervailing connections with a two-way current of more than 200 mA. The meter has a built-in voltmeter for constant voltages and variables within the range of 1500 V.

The measurement results in Sonel MIC-2511 have a tree structure. It consists of parent folders in which subordinate objects are nested. The number of these objects is arbitrary and each object houses sub-objects. Viewing and managing the memory structure is very simple and intuitive.

It is worth noting that currently no other manufacturer offers a meter that combines the measurement functions in EPA zones with the insulation resistance measurement of up to 2 TΩ and the voltage UISO up to 2500 V. Sonel MIC-2511 has a number of additional measurement functions (RT, SV, DD, RCONT, RX, C, U, record of R, U, I(t) chart during measurement, temperature, cooperation with AutoISO), which are available in the competition measures only in case housings, i.e. much larger, heavier and more expensive ones.

The meter will tell you what to do

In Sonel MIC-2511 there are built-in help screens with measurement diagrams. This makes it easy and easy to check how to connect a given system depending on the type of measurement being performed.

Communication and software

The obtained measurement data can be easily moved to a computer using a USB port. In order to generate a test report in the field of fire protection, the programme Sonel Reports Plus should be used. Saving downloaded resources to the most popular formats and printing them out is, on the other hand, provided by the free Sonel Reader software, available for download from the manufacturer's website.

What will you find in the set?

By deciding to purchase Sonel MIC-2511, the customer receives – apart from the meter – the necessary wires, blade probes, alligator clamps, cases with a wide, convenient strip, power supply, Li-Ion 10.8 V 3.5 Ah, USB Type C adapter, USB-A/USB-C adapter and calibration certificate, confirming the granting of metrological properties and maintaining measurement consistency. It is possible to extend the set with a wide range of optional accessories.
